Part-time & Full-time hours available

Hours: 40 hours available per week. We are happy to consider a job share, part-time hours or the full 40 hours for this position. The shifts vary depending on if our client is at school.  WAKING NIGHT SHIFTS REQUIRED.

Shifts are a mix of:

During term time: 16:00 to 20:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (waking night)

School holidays: 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00 (waking night), as well as a mixture at weekends.

Salary: £13 – £14.50 per hour

The Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support a 13-year-old boy with cerebral palsy in his own home and in the community. The client is fully dependent on adults for all his care needs. He is wheelchair dependent and has epilepsy. Personal care is also involved.

You will be joining a small well-established team of carers to provide the highest standard of care to our client.

All client specific and necessary training will be given to help you fulfil your role.

 Your Role:

You will be responsible for-

  • Supporting the client in all aspects of their daily living
  • Logging any Accidents/Incidents, keeping a daily activities record and support worker expenses and mileage record
  • Following therapy programs as agreed with involved professionals
  • Travelling with, act as driver or take responsibility for the client when travelling as instructed by Parents
  • Providing high standards of cleanliness, comfort and homeliness. Prioritising the client’s needs at all times by assisting with cleaning specific equipment
  • Delivering personal care
  • Undertaking any other appropriate and reasonable task in relation to the employment as agreed with the client’s family and Case Manager
  • Being flexible in hours of work to satisfy the client and his family’s needs.

Person Specification:

  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a fun outlook are required along with a willingness to undertake activities and therapy programs is essential
  • Experience of supporting children/young adults with complex health needs and disabilities is essential
  • Computer skills are essential in order to support the use of an Eye Gaze communication aid and complete client records
  • Full U.K. Driving Licence is essential for facilitating outings
  • You must have a degree of flexibility as the working hours are based on a rota
  • Experience of working with children with Brain Injury is desired
  • Non-smokers only please
